Different ways to wear a classic triangle swimsuit top
The traditional triangle string bikini top is a must-have. It can be worn so many ways and is always in style. We have taken the liberty of ranking these methods from the most practical, to the least. As you will see, there are many, many ways to tie a traditional string bikini top, with some of them being amazing hacks and others that we've decided to just leave to the brave souls who want to bare all.
This is one of the easiest looks to go for. We love the scoop neck because it freshens up the top enough to make it appear like a whole new swimsuit while not being too difficult to tie or altering the amount of coverage. To achieve this look -
Step 1: Rotate the bikini top upside down, the top of the triangle will now be facing the floor.
Step 2: Tie what was once the under-bust strap around the neck.
Step 3: Tie what used to be the neck strap around the back.
Step 4: Adjust the triangles to offer as much or as little, coverage as desired.
#2 Tie a triangle top into a bandeau
Sexy? Yes. Practical? We'll let you be the judge of that. The bandeau method is ideal if you want to minimize tan lines with the bonus of enhancing cleavage. Steps to transform your triangle bathing suit top into a bandeau -
Step 1: Lay your bikini top on a table or bed.
Step 2: Slide the triangles close together leaving a 1"- 2" gap.
Step 3: Tie the under-bust strap into a knot or bow to create a small circle 2" - 4" in diameter with each triangle on opposing sides of the circle facing away from each other.
Step 4: Secure the straps that once went around the neck behind the back.
#3 the upside-down bikini top trend
The upside-down bikini trend has Instagram models blowing us away, yet again. The apparent goal is to maximize cleavage and at times, even underboob. We still have yet to see this latest bathing suit trend worn in the wild, but please be our guest, we'll even provide the steps below for how to tie the perfect upside-down bikini top so you can create that jaw-dropping effect next time you're at the beach!
Step 1: Secure the under-chest strap behind your back.
Step 2: Overlap the neck-straps on your chest.
Step 3: Pull the straps tight in opposing directions so that the top portion of each triangle comes as close together as possible.
Step 4: Intertwine the two strings at the top of the triangles together and secure behind your back.
Step 5: Adjust the triangles based on coverage preference.
#4 secure the straps over the shoulders so they stop hurting your neck
Thank you Ashley Graham for mainstreaming this method! This is a fantastic bikini hack to help alleviate pain caused by the traditional halter top placing too much pressure on the neck, this is especially common for women with larger busts. To get Ashley's look, simply place the straps over the shoulders and secure them by tying small knots on the underbust strap. *Tip - Do this before putting the top on or tie the knot to the strap under the armpit and then slide towards your back and into place.
#5 Alleviate neck pain with The Crossed Back
We love Allison Kimmey's idea of turning a traditional triangle top into a crossed-back style. This is yet another great method to help relieve pressure on the neck caused by a large bust, or simply from hours of wearing a halter top.
